At Last
A Recruiter With Genuine Real-World IT Experience
All IT recruiters claim to "truly understand your business needs" because they may have focused on IT recruitment. But they don't really understand IT. Their people have never worked in a software development team, never done systems support, never managed a project, never designed a system and never specified requirements. They are spectators - not players.
The first reason to work with us is Flat Rate Recruitment.
The best reason to work with us is our genuine IT experience.
One of Flat Rate Recruitment's first clients called and his initial question was direct: "Why would I work with you instead of a traditional IT recruitment agency?".
The answer boiled down to this:
- We've actually been working in IT for 20 years in software engineering, hardware engineering and operations
- We're talking genuine front-line, hands-on IT experience, not "experience recruiting IT people"
- We've been running IT projects and building the project teams
- We know that when you're putting together an IT team the most important thing is the people
- When you explain what you're looking for, we actually understand
- We can tell when an IT person really knows what they are talking about - and when they don't
This client couldn't afford to make a recruitment error - he gave us the job.
A fair Flat Rate AND great results
Price is a significant factor when engaging a recruiter, but if you don't find the right team member for your organisation, then the recruitment fee was wasted money.
Even though we are the low cost option, you will get better service from us than you will get from any other recruitment company in Australia.
That's a big call but it's true.
Flat Rate Recruitment leaves the traditional recruitment companies in the dust when it comes to knowledge, experience, expertise, understanding and service.
People - a critical factor in IT project success
"we now know with certainty that peopleware issues have more impact on software productivity and software quality than any other factor" Steve McConnell, Rapid Application Development, 1996, page 12
It takes one to know one
The IT recruitment process is best executed by experts in the field of information technology, who have a proven track record in building teams and recruiting new team members into software projects and operations teams.
The recruiter assessing your potential new team member should be able to ask insightful questions, specific to the role they are recruiting for. More importantly, they they should be able to understand the answers and discuss them with the candidate. Explore the topics. Dig deep and find out if the candidate really knows what they are talking about or if they simply know the buzz words.
If recruiting for a Java programmer, your recruiter should ask for an explanation of terms like inheritance, and polymorphism. If recruiting for a Linux System Administrator, your recruiter should ask for an explanation of the Linux boot sequence and an explanation of how IPTables firewalling works. The recruiter should know if the answer is correct, and if not, why not?
Traditional recruitment companies wouldn't know a good Business Analyst/Programmer/Architect if they fell over one.
Flat Rate Recruitment's hands on experience
Our recruiters (Team Selectors) are deeply experienced in Information Technology and have often personally done the job that you are recruiting for, at some time in their career. Our recruiters are not reliant on parroting your job description requirements to the candidate to qualify them, and never resort to keyword matching to shortlist.
Our recruiters (Team Selectors) are never;
- inexperienced travelers and backpackers passing through on a working holiday. (You'll find plenty of these in many agencies)
- graduates or first-jobbers
- people with zero understanding of Information Technology
The secret to IT recruitment
Here's the secret to IT recruitment: to recruit IT people you must genuinely understand the work that IT people do AND technology (hardware, software, networks, requirements, design, development, operations, management). You must know from first hand experience what the job entails, be able to identify exceptionally talented people and have the ability to inspire those people to apply and send in their resume.
That's the secret. And we know it.
Flat Rate Recruitment's Team Selectors;
- understand the job that you have available - to be able to discuss it with you in depth and ask meaningful questions
- understand when you are looking for the highest-flyer, and when you are seeking someone solid and reliable with staying power
- speak the candidates' language, to explain what the role is actually all about, not just parrot off the job description
- ask questions that explore the candidates' expertise and experience
- attract a great IT person to a new job by inspiring them and giving them a sense of how this new job will fulfill their needs and wants
- identify really exceptional IT people even when they have resumes that look a little different from the rest.
